I’m a planner, I love a list… I keep several note books in my bag and write lists for everything.
Once a week, I sit and write a meal plan and shopping list for that plan – I check my cupboards, fridge and freezer to see what I have in, then off I go to write my shopping list. I mainly shop in Aldi, our local branch is fairly new, it’s clean and bright and their stock is always presented well, the staff are friendly and most importantly it’s great value.
My youngest son is due to start Uni in September and I have been trying to encourage him to learn to cook a few simple dishes, mainly based around pasta, which he does have a good go at. His meals will need to be simple, filling and above all cheap.
In my opinion, one of the most simple, cheap, yet versatile meals is a Jacket Potato – the topping are limitless and add a bit of salad – bingo…. A proper meal.
Tonight, it’s just Hubby and myself, and we will be having Jacket Potatoes, Baked Beans and grated cheese with a rocket and tomato salad – it costs next to nothing and is tasty, filling and simple.
When I bought my Kitchen Aid, it came with a free gift, a grater/slicer attachment – I use this attachment most weeks to grate cheese, which I keep in a lock and lock box in the fridge – it makes a little bit of cheese go so much further.
