Grande Fromage…

My lovely Hubby is affectionately known as the ‘Grande Fromage’, due to his love of cheese 🤓

From today till Monday is the ‘Bestival’ on the Isle of Wight, the last music festival,of the season in the UK. Have a look    http://www.bestival.net  My youngest 2 kids and their mates will be ‘doing their Thang’ all weekend, so Hubby and I have a few days together, which means we can eat what WE like 😋

Tonight will be gammon steaks with Cauliflower cheese, new potatoes and peas.

I steam the cauliflower, stem, leaves and all – all cut up in the Varoma on the Thermomix, then the cheese sauce is made in the bowl – I use this recipe with some tweeks. http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/side-dishes-recipes/i-love-your-cauliflower-cheese-bake/110161

I use 300ml milk, 30g plain flour, 30g butter, 100g cheese, a teaspoon of mustard powder and a sprinkle of salt and pepper, cook for 7 mins at heat 90 speed 4.

I put the cooked cauli into an ovenproof dish and cover with the cheese sauce with a sprinkle of grated cheddar on top, and wack in the oven at 180 for 15 mins. This will be enough for 2 meals for us, I am freezing one for Sunday dinner.

I will ‘dry fry’ the gammon steaks which I bought on offer through Moneysavingexpert.com from Market Porter.com and I must say the produce has been excellent, and they give you details of where it is from etc

Boil the new potato’s  and then I microwave the peas, as it’s easy 😇  Hubby’s not happy as there is no Pineapple ring on the gammon – Ring Ring…  Oh it’s the 1970’s calling….they want their menu back 😝

Delicious 💋

Hi - I'm a 49 yo Mum to 3 kids - Jordan (23), Grace (21) and Max (19). And Wife to my lovely Husband, Dave and step mum to 4 fur babies, our cats Eric, Ernie, Cilla and Bobbie. We live on the beautiful Isle of Wight, Hubby and I were born here, and just love our home. As I hurtle towards 50, my life as a full time (working) parent is coming to an end, with my eldest 2 kids living their own lives, and my youngest who started University in September. I realised that this is not a time to be sad, but a time to take time to spend time on some of the things I enjoy doing - mainly cooking, crafting and creating Pinterest boards for said thing s :) This blog is just a way for me to record the next stages of our lives - I hope you enjoy my ramblings...
