Pork Steaks in a Blue Cheese Sauce.

After digging through the freezer to check what I had in, and what I can plan for the week ahead, I found some lovely Pork Steaks from Market Porter, so based on those and some large spuds I had in the fridge, I added some blue cheese to my shopping list and some fresh salad and planned Pork Steaks in a blue cheese sauce with jacket potatoes and salad – simple but tasty.

Aldi have a great range of cheeses and their Gorgonzola is one of my favourites at £1.29 it tastes far more expensive, and it will go well with the Rosemary Crackers I made last week as a great lunch as well as being the Star of the tasty sauce for my Pork steaks.

I always start my baked potatoes in the microwave on high for 10 minutes, then finish in the oven at 200 for 20 minutes.

Whilst these are baking, I heat the griddle and after lightly dressing the Pork in olive oil, salt and pepper, place the steaks on the hot griddle, as these cook, wash you hands and prep the salad on the serving plates.

As you turn the steaks, put 150ml of double cream into a pan and heat till bubbling, add crumbled Gorgonzola and stir till melted then turn off the heat – this really is to taste, thicker sauce, use less cream, stronger sauce, add more blue cheese.

Put the pork steaks onto a warmed dish to ‘rest’ whilst you plate and slice through the baked potatoes, and add a small slice of salted butter to each potato, plate the pork and spoon the sauce over the pork – serve….  comforting and tasty.
