After that heavy weight start, dinner won’t be till very much later, Market PorterΒ gammon steaks, cauliflower cheese, and peas. The cauliflower was 79p from Aldi and really crisp, and apart from the very bottom, I have used it all, steaming it in the Varoma on the Thermomix, the bowl of which I will make the cheese sauce in too. 50g each of butter, plain flour then 100g of chopped cheddar and 500 ml milk, I add a teaspoon of mustard powder too – cook on heat 80, speed 2 for 8 minutes then pour over the cauliflower – into a preheated oven at 180 for 10-15 minutes till golden brown – I griddle the Gammon steaks, serve with peas and enjoy….. πŸ€—

Having a look around the fridge for work lunch inspiration, I decided to use up the last of the bacon with lentils for lentil and bacon soup with homemade bread rolls 😍 I chop a medium onion and 4 chopped slices of smoked streaky bacon into the Thermiix jug and chop at speed 4 for 5-10 seconds, then add a tablespoon of oil and cook at heat 80 speed 1 for 5 mins then add 150g of red lentils a teaspoon of veg stock and 800 ml water, cook again at heat 98, speed 2 for 15 minutes, then wiz at speed 9 for a minute and season to taste, add water if it’s a bit thick – Yummy…

Hi - I'm a 49 yo Mum to 3 kids - Jordan (23), Grace (21) and Max (19). And Wife to my lovely Husband, Dave and step mum to 4 fur babies, our cats Eric, Ernie, Cilla and Bobbie. We live on the beautiful Isle of Wight, Hubby and I were born here, and just love our home. As I hurtle towards 50, my life as a full time (working) parent is coming to an end, with my eldest 2 kids living their own lives, and my youngest who started University in September. I realised that this is not a time to be sad, but a time to take time to spend time on some of the things I enjoy doing - mainly cooking, crafting and creating Pinterest boards for said thing s :) This blog is just a way for me to record the next stages of our lives - I hope you enjoy my ramblings...
