Yule be glad You did it….

Today is the first of several days of our confused Christmas, our Daughter is working Christmas Day and will be eating with her boyfriend’s family in the evening. Youngest has been invited to eat at his girlfriends families too, so rather than subject him to Christmas Day with ‘the Olds’ he can go and have some fun with her 😊

So I am cooking Christmas dinner today 🎄

I spent most of yesterday ‘prepping’.  The gammon was cooked in Cola then roasted off in the oven with mustard and sugar.

Then, when cooled popped into the fridge.

Meringues were made and popped into an airtight box for Raspberry Pavolova’s

The baby one is for Hubby – just in case he wants one 😉

Yorkshire puds were cooked too, Hubby doesn’t think they should be served with Christmas dinner, but Youngest loves them with anything.

Sprouts, potatoes and parsnips were peeled and bagged, sat in the fridge awaiting their fate.

And gorgeous fat prawns were taken out of the freezer and popped into the fridge to defrost, ready for our starter.

Cauliflower cheese was made and put into the fridge till tomorrow.

The bird was prepped and dressed in its bacon cloak, with plenty of butter and sage with a halved lemon poked in the cavity.

And all those little extra bits, pigs in blankets, stuffing balls etc were sorted.

So today was a ‘chuck it in the oven’ and enjoy day 😄

Actual Christmas Day will start with coffee in bed, the traditional prezzie opening, calls to absent children, and a full English, a visit to the pub at lunchtime, this is were Youngest leaves us. Then home for cold cuts and Mash or Port and Cheese and pickles depending on how hungry we are and I am sure we will manage to open a bottle or 2 of wine to sip whilst watching rubbish on TV.

Whatever you are doing, I wish you health and love – Merry Christmas X

Hi - I'm a 49 yo Mum to 3 kids - Jordan (23), Grace (21) and Max (19). And Wife to my lovely Husband, Dave and step mum to 4 fur babies, our cats Eric, Ernie, Cilla and Bobbie. We live on the beautiful Isle of Wight, Hubby and I were born here, and just love our home. As I hurtle towards 50, my life as a full time (working) parent is coming to an end, with my eldest 2 kids living their own lives, and my youngest who started University in September. I realised that this is not a time to be sad, but a time to take time to spend time on some of the things I enjoy doing - mainly cooking, crafting and creating Pinterest boards for said thing s :) This blog is just a way for me to record the next stages of our lives - I hope you enjoy my ramblings...
