Naughty but N-Icecream…

For Christmas, my lovely Hubby bought me an Icream maker, to be more specific a  Cuisinart ICE100NCU Gelato & Ice Cream Professional Ref: ICE100BCU.

He knows I love a gadget, and thought I,d  just showthe first time I have used it 🤗

Please excuse the junk on my worksurfaces, Hubby is fitting some new cupboards in another part of the kitchen, so I am in OCD hell till they are done 😉 I will have a lovely cooking/craft storage and work area at the end of it though 😊

The machine is quiet large, about the footprint of a small Mircowave, the instructions are clear and the booklet throws in a few recipes too.

After much discussion, we decided to make Ginger and Chocolate Chip Icecream, I used the Thermomix to ‘cook’ the base,

and added a good piece of Aldi root ginger, peeled and cut into ‘coins’, 450ml double cream, 250ml of whole milk and 150g white sugar – I also added a good glug of the preserved ginger syrup – I cooked this at heat 80 for 10 minutes on reverse speed 1, then set aside in the fridge for a couple of hours for the ginger to ‘infuse’.

At this point I strained the mixture into the Icecream makers bowl

and popped it into the machine.

I set the timer for 50 minutes and pressed start.

5 minutes before the end, I added 25g of plain Chocolate dots and 3 lumps of preserved ginger, cut up into bits.

Once mixed, using a silicone spatula I decant it into a lock and lock box and shove in the freezer before I scoff it all 😇

Not good for the diet, but this was really delicious – I am looking forward to practising and maybe will try frozen yoghurt next time 😍

Hi - I'm a 49 yo Mum to 3 kids - Jordan (23), Grace (21) and Max (19). And Wife to my lovely Husband, Dave and step mum to 4 fur babies, our cats Eric, Ernie, Cilla and Bobbie. We live on the beautiful Isle of Wight, Hubby and I were born here, and just love our home. As I hurtle towards 50, my life as a full time (working) parent is coming to an end, with my eldest 2 kids living their own lives, and my youngest who started University in September. I realised that this is not a time to be sad, but a time to take time to spend time on some of the things I enjoy doing - mainly cooking, crafting and creating Pinterest boards for said thing s :) This blog is just a way for me to record the next stages of our lives - I hope you enjoy my ramblings...

  1. My DH is the gadget fiend, he bought “us” a Sage (Heston Blumenthal) ice-cream maker last November and it’s fab, it can even play an ice-cream van tune when it’s done!
