Fakeaway – Homemade Pizza – Yumm🍕

It’s a miserable Tuesday here, the rain hasn’t stopped all day, it’s just Yuk…In need of comfort food, so Pizza is on the menu – forget the takeaway – I want Fakeaway….  cheaper, tastier and I won’t even expect a tip 😉

I start by making the dough – using the Thermomix, buy easily made by hand or in a conventional mixer, add 170ml water. 37 heat for 1 minute on speed 1. Add 1tsp salt, 1 tsp sugar and 7g yeast (I use about 10). Mix on speed 1 for 1 minute. Add 260g plain flour. Mix speed dough setting for 2 minutes and set aside to rest.

While that is resting, I make the pizza sauce, peel and chop a small onion, add a clove of garlic and chop on speed 4 for 15 seconds, scrape down the bowl and add a glug of olive oil, cook for 4 minutes on heat 100, speed 2, then add a tin of chopped tomatoes and a good squirt of tomato purée and a teaspoon of oregano, a pinch of salt and pepper and a pinch of sugar – Cook for 10 mins, heat 100, speed 2.

When the sauce is cooked, and thickened (it might need a minutes or 2 more) adjust seasoning to taste, blend on speed 6 if you like it smooth – then tip into a bowl to cool until needed.

I am using what topping I have and slice a red onion, red pepper, Mushroom, chorizo and mozzarella- this is really great use up recipe.

Heat the oven to 200 and put 2 baking trays in to heat up – you want the oven really hot….

Roll out the dough to the size you want, and I use some polenta on the baking sheet to help it not stick, and give an additional ‘crunch’

Add a Few spoons of pizza sauce to taste – scatter your toppings with cheese over the top a drizzle of olive oil and a sprinkle of oregano and sack into the very hot oven for 10 minutes or so till bubbling and golden.

Hi - I'm a 49 yo Mum to 3 kids - Jordan (23), Grace (21) and Max (19). And Wife to my lovely Husband, Dave and step mum to 4 fur babies, our cats Eric, Ernie, Cilla and Bobbie. We live on the beautiful Isle of Wight, Hubby and I were born here, and just love our home. As I hurtle towards 50, my life as a full time (working) parent is coming to an end, with my eldest 2 kids living their own lives, and my youngest who started University in September. I realised that this is not a time to be sad, but a time to take time to spend time on some of the things I enjoy doing - mainly cooking, crafting and creating Pinterest boards for said thing s :) This blog is just a way for me to record the next stages of our lives - I hope you enjoy my ramblings...
