Valentines treats – to share, or not 😉

Love is in the air…..  Valentines Day becomes more commercialised every year, as soon as the Christmas Crackers are sold out in the shops, the rows of heart shaped goodies jostle for space with Easter bunnies and Eggs – mad….

img_2285I like to show Hubby I love him all year round, normally in the way of food 😉 He made me an area for my crafting and fudge making 💋 I thought I would share a couple of easy homemade treats you can make for your loved one – or if you are solo at this most ridiculously overblown time of year, run a bubble bath, open that wine and scoff all the Chocolates – you are worth it x

I’m making dipped strawberries, and I will make some Rice Krispie treats in a heart shapes – I used to make these for the kids for Valentines when they were small 😊

I start my melting 50g butter in a large pan and add a bag of mini marshmallows, these are pink and white ones, which give the treats a pink tinge.

The marshmallows take a little while to melt, keep stirring, then add a third of a box of Krispie, approx 100g which doesn’t sound a lot but it is 😁

Mix it all together and then press into a lined baking tray and leave to firm up.

When firm, using a cookie cutter, cut out your hearts.

I half dip these love hearts in chocolate and sprinkle with dehydrated raspberries 😍

Old photo – forgot to take a before one today 🙄

Another easy treat are Chocolate dipped strawberries, lay a piece of baking parchment onto the worktop, gently melt your favourite chocolate (dark, milk, white or a bit of each) take each strawberry.

and dip into the chocolate upto the stalk and lay onto the baking parchment, if you are feeling arty, use an alternative colour Chocolate and using a warmed spoon create patterns, or shake sprinkles over the still damp chocolate.

Whatever you are doing, celebrating or not be kind to yourselves x

Hi - I'm a 49 yo Mum to 3 kids - Jordan (23), Grace (21) and Max (19). And Wife to my lovely Husband, Dave and step mum to 4 fur babies, our cats Eric, Ernie, Cilla and Bobbie. We live on the beautiful Isle of Wight, Hubby and I were born here, and just love our home. As I hurtle towards 50, my life as a full time (working) parent is coming to an end, with my eldest 2 kids living their own lives, and my youngest who started University in September. I realised that this is not a time to be sad, but a time to take time to spend time on some of the things I enjoy doing - mainly cooking, crafting and creating Pinterest boards for said thing s :) This blog is just a way for me to record the next stages of our lives - I hope you enjoy my ramblings...
