One divided by 4 – Beef and Broccoli Fakeaway

I have found a steak in the deep recesses of the freezer, I wanted to see if I could stretch it between us for dinner tonight – 2 of the Kids are joining us for Fakeaway Beef and Broccoli.

Its basically a stirfry with a lovely sauce, which I will serve with noodles and an Aldi Veggie spring roll – yum…  I found this Recipe on Pinterest which I use

The steak is cut in half vertically then sliced horizontally

into a freezer bag add a heaped tablespoon of cornflour and a pinch of ground pepper, a teaspoon each of sugar and baking powder,  a tablespoon  of Veg oil and  dark soy sauce , mix thoroughly in the bag

add the sliced beef and shake so its all coated and leave for at least an hour.

I use a whole head of Broccoli, breaking the florets into small pieces and slicing the tender parts of the stalk.

For the sauce, into a bowl add 20ml soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of light brown sugar, 4 cloves of minced garlic, 2 tablespoons of plain flour, a tablespoon of Sherry or rice wine – stir together till smooth.

img_2473

Into a hot wok or large pan add 2 tablespoons of Veg oil, and stir fry the Broccoli till tender, and set aside.

img_2474

Reduce the heat to medium, add another tablespoon of oil, and add the sliced steak and half of the sauce, and stir fry till separated and mostly cooked through.

img_2476

Add the cooked Broccoli and the remaining sauce, stir though till combined and bubbling.

Serve with rice or noodles.

I have added Aldi Veg spring rolls just as a filler.

Not bad for 1 steak 😊

P.S – Thank you for the kind words about yesterday – they were appreciated x

Hi - I'm a 49 yo Mum to 3 kids - Jordan (23), Grace (21) and Max (19). And Wife to my lovely Husband, Dave and step mum to 4 fur babies, our cats Eric, Ernie, Cilla and Bobbie. We live on the beautiful Isle of Wight, Hubby and I were born here, and just love our home. As I hurtle towards 50, my life as a full time (working) parent is coming to an end, with my eldest 2 kids living their own lives, and my youngest who started University in September. I realised that this is not a time to be sad, but a time to take time to spend time on some of the things I enjoy doing - mainly cooking, crafting and creating Pinterest boards for said thing s :) This blog is just a way for me to record the next stages of our lives - I hope you enjoy my ramblings...
