Meal Planning – Bulk Buy Budget Stocking up on Building blocks

At the beginning of our financial month, and the freezer is pretty run down, I have a few luxury items, but need basic ‘building blocks’ for the months meals. The pictures are from earlier this year – I buy like this approx every 3 months.

We have a card for our local Wholesaler, Bookers, I don’t shop there nearly as much as I used to do when the kids were younger, but I do still buy some things in bulk – Chicken Thighs are one of those.

For just under £18 I buy 5k of Chicken Thighs- these are split into packs of 4 and frozen.

I have mentioned it before, but a few years ago I bought a heat sealer from Lidl, it was about £20 and is really useful.  I use Lidls freezer bags too, they are really thick and can be clearly marked, which helps in a few weeks time when you are looking for specific items 😉

Each pack will used for various meals throughout the month. Curries, stirfrys, roasts, casseroles etc – Building blocks 😇

Hi - I'm a 49 yo Mum to 3 kids - Jordan (23), Grace (21) and Max (19). And Wife to my lovely Husband, Dave and step mum to 4 fur babies, our cats Eric, Ernie, Cilla and Bobbie. We live on the beautiful Isle of Wight, Hubby and I were born here, and just love our home. As I hurtle towards 50, my life as a full time (working) parent is coming to an end, with my eldest 2 kids living their own lives, and my youngest who started University in September. I realised that this is not a time to be sad, but a time to take time to spend time on some of the things I enjoy doing - mainly cooking, crafting and creating Pinterest boards for said thing s :) This blog is just a way for me to record the next stages of our lives - I hope you enjoy my ramblings...
